What can you see and do on a private yacht charter in Split?

This Dalmatian jewel has something for everyone. With its rich history, stunning scenery and vibrant atmosphere you could never be bored on a yacht charter in Split. Here are some of our recommendations:

  • Go to the beach: First things first, let's talk beaches! Split is home to some of the most stunning beaches in Croatia, and with a boat at your disposal, you can easily visit them all. Some of the must-visit beaches in Split include Bacvice, a popular sandy beach with crystal-clear water and a lively promenade, and Kasjuni, a secluded pebble beach located in a natural park with jaw-dropping views of the Adriatic Sea. While at the beach you can choose to sunbathe or try your hand at various watersports such as kayaking, paddleboarding or windsurfing.
  • Sail to nearby islands: If you're feeling adventurous, head to some of the nearby islands. Brač Island is a popular destination for sailors, and its famous Zlatni Rat Beach, with its distinctive triangular shape and crystalline water, is a must-visit. Hvar Island, known for its lavender fields, is also a popular destination for sailors, with its picturesque harbour and historic old town.
  • Discover the underwater world: Split has a number of excellent dive sites, including the nearby island of Vis, which boasts a number of sunken ships and planes from World War II. The Blue Cave, located on the island of Biševo, is also a popular diving spot, with its mesmerizing blue light illuminating the underwater cave.
  • Get in touch with nature: Split is surrounded by some of the most stunning natural attractions in Croatia. Krka National Park, located just an hour's sail from Split, boasts a number of gorgeous waterfalls, lush forests and glassy lakes, perfect for a day trip.

What is the best time of year to rent a boat in Split?

The best time of year for a boat charter in Split is typically in the high tourist season which is during the summer between June and August. This is when you’ll have the highest temperatures coupled with the lowest levels of precipitation, making for smooth sailing and great beach days. However, it is important to be aware that the city will be crowded with tourists so if you prefer a quieter and more relaxed experience then the shoulder season which runs from April to May or September to October is also a good option. The weather will be slightly cooler but still warm and the prices of Split yacht charters will be cheaper.

Do I need a skipper on board my Split boat rental?

If you have a licence to sail you might prefer a bareboat for your yacht charter in Split however, even avid sailors can benefit from having a skipper present. This is because skippers are not only nautical professionals who can dock, navigate and anchor the vessel for you, they can also show you sailing basics or if you already know how to sail, give you tips and tricks to improve your technique. But perhaps the best part about having a skipper on board is that they are usually locals of Split or surrounding areas which means that they can act as your private guide around the city and show you everything on your travel itinerary and more.

For a worry-free sailing trip and an unparalleled element of personalisation, opt for a skippered boat charter in Split!

What type of boat is best for my yacht charter in Split?

The perfect boat trip begins with the perfect boat and at Nautal, we’ve got a large fleet of boat charters in Split to suit any sort of holiday. The first thing to keep in mind when choosing the ideal vessel is the amount of time you plan to spend on the water. If you only want to spend a few days we’d recommend a daily charter such as a motorboat or a RIB. They will help you get to where you need to go in no time since they are faster than other vessels, and they are normally minimalistic so they are a good option for a day trip where you don’t need to sleep on board. On the other hand, if you’re planning a longer holiday of a week or more you’ll probably want to choose a more spacious vessel such as a catamaran or a yacht. These vessels are great for family holidays and they are fully equipped with amenities on board such as a kitchen, bathroom and cabins to accommodate your every need.

If you’re an avid sailor or if you want a more traditional sailing experience you might want to rent a sailboat however, these vessels can be quite challenging to navigate so we always recommend choosing one with a skipper present. No matter which sort of vessel you’re looking for for your Split boat rental, you’re sure to find it with Nautal. Start planning your dream holiday!

We visited the island Brač, a few beautiful bays. I really liked the Šolta beach, with the pool bar/cafe.

Good weather around Split. A little bit urban and run down outside the old city. Nice and easy getting to Hvar and Brac islands.

As first time in Split, we were surprised by the beauty of Split, the city is charming, historical and has a lot of nice bars/restaurants and hidden gems (same for Hvar). For sure I would like to come back again.
