Amadi Vittorio, a boat from the post-war period used by the postal service, built entirely of wood. An ancient piece of Venetian naval art history. Vittorio Amadi's name is inextriNautally linked to shipbuilding. He was a pioneer, as he was the first to introduce marine plywood in the shipyards of Burano and to modernize the old transport boat designs to meet new needs. Born in 1929, he was a shipwright and a master craftsman by heritage—his father, Giovanni, had worked for Gabriele D’Annunzio, while his brothers, Agostino and Achille, were also renowned shipwrights. In 1956, he founded Cantieri Amadi Vittorio SNC in Burano, where he lived. The Region awarded him the title of "master shipwright," and the Port Authority included him in the golden register of master shipwrights. Over the years, his shipyard produced all types of traditional Venetian boats, from transport "topi" to "caorline," from "bragozzi" to "sandoli," and even "pupparini."
