Jeanneau - Sun Odyssey 29.2 | 4 People
Joie de Vivre is located at Shell Bay Marine within the beautiful and protected surrounds of Poole Harbour and beyond is the legendary mackerel-rich Poole Bay. Besides sailing, there is plenty of scope for plain motoring or anchoring up and exploring by canoe, dinghy or other means. Not forgetting of course, the opportunity to catch fish for supper. Being on the water is most enjoyable when the weather is fair and the scope to go further afield, explore and relax are greater when this is so. Generally, I will be looking to sail at weekends, but mid-week sails are possible and also for more extended periods. I have owned Joie de Vivre for five years and continually upgraded and improved her since she has been in my ownership and she is now coded for coastal trips. I am a commercially endorsed Yachtmaster (Coastal). Joie de Vivre is easy to handle and a day sail experience is an ideal way to be introduced to sailing or to build experience. Above everything, comes safety of all on the boat and a close second is maximum enjoyment that the conditions allow taking all factors into consideration. Tides and the weather are the most important factors in planning a trip on the boat, together with the needs and capabilities of the crew. Crew are welcome to get as involved in the sailing as much as they like. What to expect Day Sails (4-6 hours) – destinations Brownsea Island, Arne Island, Wareham Quay (tide dependent) Studland Bay, Hengistbury Head / Mudeford beach, Poole Quay. A great restaurant at Shell Bay - prior booking required. Wareham and Poole Quay have pubs and restaurants. A Fresco food can be provided if ordered at time of booking. Where is the start? In the summer, JdV is located on a swing mooring at Shell Bay Marine near the Sandbanks / Studland ferry. To get from the shore to the boat, it is either a dinghy ride / water taxi (during working hours) or when there is the tide, time and space available, from the pontoon by the slipway – JdV needs a metre of depth. Alternatively, a pick up is possible from the Poole Quay Boat Haven (subject to booking). What to bring Clothing – it is worth bringing a waterproof coat (and trousers if we are going further afield, even wellies if you have non-marking ones - as there may be spray at times. Bring suitable protection from the sun. Swimming may be possible. What will be provided Safety - Lifejackets are provided.
