How much to charter a yacht in Italy?

The price of yacht rental in Italy fluctuates greatly depending on factors, such as the season, the model of boat, capacity, included services and more. The owner decides on the price as well as which costs are included and which are additional.
The price of yacht charters in Italy during low season can start from £1,110 per day and £13,974 per week. During high season hire can cost from £2,995 per day and from £10,606 per week. For a luxury yacht charter in Italy, you will be looking to spend even more, with prices often starting starting at around £24,830.

Is it possible to find a yacht rental in Italy with or without skipper?

It is possible to rent a yacht in Italy either with or without a skipper. There are only a few yachts that are available without a skipper so make sure to book early if you want to be completely in charge of your sailing experience. If you’re looking for a bareboat charter in Italy, you will need to ensure that you are in possession of the appropriate boating license in order to navigate the yacht. If you are not sure check with the owner of the boat.

If you want to have the ultimate luxury yacht charter in Italy, then we recommend a crewed charter. Whether you opt for a skippered yacht charter in Italy or one with a full crew, you can enjoy your Italian yacht charter by island hopping and swimming in the beautiful refreshing waters. A crewed charter will usually include a chef who will cook delicious meals and prepare drinks for you and your guests.

What to do during a yacht charter in Italy?

There are a wide variety of beaches and islands to discover during a yacht hire in Italy. Whether you decide to go to areas in the north such as Tuscany or the South like Sicily or Sardinia your yacht holiday in Italy will not disappoint.
In Tuscany, the sandy beaches of Viareggio are a popular seaside destination. It is ideal for families and children and during the warm summer evenings, the nightlife is ideal. Another beautiful beach area in Tuscany is Castiglioncello. The picturesque coves and pebble creeks make it a nice place to go in your charter yacht in Italy. Further south, there is the Golfo Di Baratti with pine forests and sandy beaches.

In Tuscany, if you are looking for a city to visit, we recommend mooring at the Marina di Pisa. You can visit the city and see the famous leaning Tower of Pisa. While here, we recommend to also check out the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and try counting the “devil’s nail prints.” Every time someone tries to count the holes on this piece of marble with Roman origins, you never end up with the same number. Try this mystery out yourself and let us know how many holes you counted!

On the southern side of Italy, there is so much to see, from the Amalfi Coast to Sicily, Sardinia and many more. This is an ideal place for your yacht charter in Italy due to the vast and endless options. The Amalfi Coast is home to a Positano, a city that looks like it came straight from a postcard. Beaches such as Marina Grande are beautiful to see from the sea with colourful apartments, houses and more bringing the scene to life. Santa Croce is another place to visit on this coast that is tucked away in a rocky inlet. You are only able to arrive at these turquoise waters by boat making it secluded. Another unique site is Fiordo di Furore which was an old fishing hamlet. This cove is visible from the road above and is ideal in the earlier hours of the morning.

Arriving in Sardinia, even if it is from the coast of Italy, feels like being in a different continent. Yachts for rent here make going to different parts of the island easy. In the north La Pelosa is a piece of paradise with a raggy coastline and the open seas of the Mediterranean. Su Giudeu is a popular beach for surfers on the southern tip of Sardinia. This beach attracts younger people with its colourful reefs, so don’t forget your snorkeling gear.

What weather and sailing conditions should you expect during yacht holidays in Italy?

The coast of Italy has the famous Mediterranean climate. The summer months of May to September are sunny with temperatures ranging from 23°C to 31°C (73.5-88°F). The winter, meanwhile, can get quite cold with temperatures ranging from 9°C to 15°C (48-59°F) in the islands of the south and can go down to 3°C (37.5°F) in the mainland in the north.

Sardinia is a sunny island and has a cool and dry northwest wind (the Maestrale).

Which are the most popular ports to stop off at during a yacht rental in Italy?

There are many ports in Italy depending on if you go to the north or the south of the country. Italy’s yacht marinas include:

  • Port of Giardini Naxos
  • Porto Dell’Etna
  • Marina Genova
  • Porto di Cannigione
  • Vulcano Porto Di Levante
  • Marina di Asfodeli

How to get to your yacht hire in Italy?

Italy is one of the most visited countries in the world and therefore has a large number of international airports. Many airports also have public transport which will allow you to easily reach your private yacht charter in Italy.
