Boat rentals in Lefkada with Nautal

Lefkas, also known as Lefkada or Leucas, is known to be one of the most breathtaking Greek islands located in the heart of the Ionian sea. It is connected to the mainland by a small bridge which makes it easily accessible by car. Renting a boat in Lefkada is the perfect way to explore its wonderful natural landscapes and the most scenic beaches you can find. Picture dramatic cliff backdrops, white sand and pebbles glistening in the Ionian sun, crystal clear, turquoise waters and wild natural landscapes… that pretty much sums up this beautiful island. We bet you can’t wait to visit!

How much does it cost to rent a boat in Lefkada?

The price of boat hire in Lefkada can vary greatly depending on a number of different factors. Some of these include the number of people, the duration of your trip, the season, and the type of boat. Whether or not you want a bareboat charter in Lefkas can also affect the price. Below is a list of prices depending on the type of boat:

What is included in the cost?

When you charter a boat in Lefkada, the cost covers the usage of the vessel for the length of your boating experience. The essential safety equipment is included to ensure a secure and worry- free journey.

The cost may differ from boat to boat and may depend on the additional services and extras provided by the boat owner. Fuel will typically require an extra payment and will also depend on the type of boat and length of your journey.

All-aboard! Should I rent with or without a skipper?

If you have a suitable sailing license you can rent a boat without a skipper in Lefkas. You can also choose to embark on a Lefkada sailing trip with a skipper on the Nautal website.

If you are a confident sailor in possession of the appropriate licence, it is absolutely a fantastic idea to throw caution to the wind and be the captain of your own boat. In this way, you will have the opportunity to explore Lefkas and the rest of the Ionian islands at your leisure. If you want a more relaxing type of holiday, though, where you have nothing to worry about but perfecting your tan, you should consider a skipper! When you rent a boat in Lefkada with a skipper, you will get the benefit of their years of experience and often they will tell you funny anecdotes about their past sailing experiences.

What to do and see during my Lefkada boat rental?

Renting a boat in Lefkada will allow you to explore the most popular and most-photographed beaches in Greece. Amongst them are Porto Katsiki beach, Egremni beach, Milos beach Lefkada and Kathisma beach. Surprisingly, there isn’t much accommodation available on the island itself which means a hire is the perfect solution. However, this doesn’t mean there aren’t many restaurants. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Two of the most well known ones are; the evening-only Regantos at Dimarchou Veriotou 17, which offers excellent mezedes and main courses, and Eftychia, in an alley off Dorpfeld, a great spot for oven-baked goodies like swordfish and stuffed aubergines.

Other things that are worth taking the time to check out when you hire a boat in Lefkada include:

  • The views from the cliffs at Cape Lefkatas, which extend all the way to Ithaca and Kefalonia
  • The Archaeological Museum of Lefkada
  • The Monastery of Panagia Faneromeni
  • Doukato Lighthouse
  • Nydri Waterfalls

Where to sail with an Lefakda boat rental?

With a Lefkada yacht charter, you are provided with the opportunity to island hop and explore some of the alluring nearby destinations! Take a look at some of our must-sees:

One of the closest destinations to sail from Lefkada is the charming island of Meganisi. This unspoiled paradise boasts crystal-clear waters and secluded beaches, perfect for a peaceful and relaxing day on your yacht. The island is also home to a traditional fishing village, which is a great place to explore and experience the local way of life.

Another must-visit island is Kefalonia, which is known for its breathtaking scenery and stunning beaches. The island is surrounded by towering cliffs, and the blue-green waters of Myrtos beach are sure to take your breath away.

If you're looking for a bit of adventure, head to the island of Ithaca, which is steeped in history and mythology. This is the legendary home of Odysseus, and you can explore the ancient ruins and archaeological sites that are scattered throughout the island.

There are many fantastic Lefkada sailing areas, each one with many different things to see. It’s unlikely you’ll have time to visit all of them before leaving, but you should try to get to as many as possible. Here are some notable mentions:

  • Sivota
  • Parga
  • Kalamitsi
  • Kathisma
  • Agios Nikitas
  • Ligia
  • Egremni Beach
  • Porto Katsiki
  • Vasiliki
  • Ammoglossa
  • Mytikas
  • Poros Beach

When is the best time to set sail in Lefkada?

The best time for a Lefkada boat hire runs from June to mid-September, when the high temperatures, slightly calmer wind speeds and little rainfall merge together to form the best sailing conditions. However, the boat prices will be higher during these months because of the ideal conditions, and there will also be a lot of people, potentially leaving the beaches overcrowded. If you aren’t a huge fan of the sun then it is advised to visit between mid-April to mid-June in order to avoid the heat that can occur in high summer. Going during this time period will also avoid the crowds that the slightly better weather of the summer months brings.

In Lefkada, a Greek island in the Ionian Sea, the climate is Mediterranean, with mild, rainy winters and hot, sunny summers. At sea level, the daily average temperature ranges from 9.5 °C (49 °F) in January to 26 °C (79 °F) in August. This is ideal when you want to charter a yacht in Lefkada, as it isn’t too hot. The water temperatures generally range from around 15°C (59°F) in February to about 25.56°C (78°F) in August. November is Lefkas’ wettest month, with around 4.8 inches (12.19 cm) of rain. This contrasts greatly with July, which usually sees just 0.2 inches (0.51 cm) of rain. If you rent a boat in Lefkada in August, the wind will be fairly calm, with speeds averaging at about 6.9 mph (11.1 kph). On the other hand, if you go in December, you should be prepared for fairly strong winds, averaging at about 10 mph (16.09 kph).

Great place to pick-up the boat; Lefkas Marina gets crazily busy during Saturday switchover, so if you use a local skipper/rental agency, would suggest to try and use a smaller port in the area (e.g. Nydri area)
