All about Sailboat hire in Istria

Rent a sailboat in Istria and set off on an unforgettable marine adventure with your loved ones. Whether exploring the Istrian peninsula on a romantic getaway or teaching the ropes to little ones, Istria is a wonderful choice with plenty of options for your sailing itinerary. Visit Roman and Venetian architectural works or sip cocktails in bars on the cobbled streets of the timeworn towns dotted along the coast. Sail the Brijuni National Park or dock for a day to rent a bike and delve into its luscious green oasis.

Marinas and Harbours in Istria

In central Pula, ACI Marina Pula hosts our sailboat hire.
Marina Veruda and Marina Bunarina can be found in a natural bay on the south coast of Pula. Both have plenty of facilities and berths.
ACI Marina Pomer is situated on the south coast slightly further to the east of Marina Veruda and Marina Bunarina.
Marina Vrsar is a sailing boat rental location on the west coast north of Pula. This harbour is very close to Rovinj, a top travel destination along the Istrian coast.

Climate and Sailing Conditions in Istria

The weather along the Croatian coast is typically mediterranean, meaning you can sail in pleasant sunny weather from spring time through to autumn. Temperatures in summer time average 25°C to 30°C.
There are a few winds to take into consideration when sailing, such as the bora, a north-easterly wind. Luckily, the bora is usually more cause for concern during the winter time. The jugo is a south-easterly wind which brings humidity and a drop in air pressure. The jugo can last more than five days when a cyclone develops, so be sure to inform yourselves before setting sail. A beneficial wind welcomed amongst sailors is the mistral. The mistral blows frequently during the summer and usually flows in a north-westerly direction. It picks up throughout the day and peaks in the afternoons.

Itinerary Ideas for Istria

The options are endless, so allow us to hand-pick a few to help you with your sailing itinerary.
Vsar, on the west coast of Istria is a great option if you prefer to conceal yourself from mass tourism. Rovinj town nearby is scenic and traditional, though in peak season it’s a big hit with visitors. Upon visiting you’ll understand why!
Pula city is a vibrant Croatian city with a handful of everything for everyone. Bars, restaurants, summer festivals, this city has its fair share of fun! However, if your idea of fun is not quite partying until dawn, why not visit the 2000 year old Roman amphitheatre or the Temple of Augustus instead.
Off the west coast of Pula, you can sail to the Brijuni Islands to explore natural beauty and fresh sea air mixed with the sweet smell of verdant gardens and forests.
Zadar is not that far and really is worth a visit! Maybe your best option will be renting another sailing boat, this time in Zadar! So you'll have all the time you need!

Travel Tips for Istria
