Description of Xavier's sailboat
Dufour - Dufour 1800 | 4 People
The Dufour 1800 is a 7.65m sailboat designed for crews or families looking for a boat for coastal cruising. Despite its very classic image at the time of its launch, it found its niche despite more modern competitors. Appreciated for its maneuverability and robustness, it remains a popular choice for boaters seeking a pleasant and safe vessel with the added benefit of a very attractive charter price. Built in 1980, IKIGAÏ has a monolithic polyester hull (7.65m x 2.71m) with a fixed keel and a draft of 1.30m. The inboard engine (VETUS M20G – 16hp) was replaced in 2018. A general overhaul was carried out in 2024 and 2025: battery, valves, standing rigging, running rigging, navigation electronics, etc. This sailboat is in excellent sailing condition and is available for charter, although its aesthetic appeal may not be immediately apparent upon arrival in port. During the winter of 2025-2026, improvements and/or refurbishments were carried out: a complete engine overhaul (including cleaning of the heat exchanger), replacement of the portholes, sail overhaul including replacement of the UV strip on the genoa, and checks of the watertightness and electrical system. An autopilot has been added to the equipment, along with the necessary gear for "semi-offshore" navigation: a 4-person life raft in a container, 150N self-inflating life jackets, and paper charts of the intended sailing area: from Cap de la Hague to Ushant, including the islands of Jersey and Guernsey (with the flags of both islands and the yellow flag). Finally, curtains have been installed to ensure your privacy. The Dufour 1800 offers a functional layout optimized for cruising comfort: • A convivial saloon with two settees that can be converted into berths and a folding table • A chart table to port • A galley, located to starboard, equipped with a gas stove, a sink, storage for dishes and provisions, and an icebox. • A forward cabin with a V-berth double berth, offering a private sleeping area • A head (toilet and sink) • Numerous lockers and storage compartments for onboard equipment and personal belongings. The Dufour 1800 is renowned for its satisfactory seakeeping performance and ease of handling: • Good course-keeping and stability thanks to a well-designed hull and efficient ballast; • Easy to maneuver, even with a small crew, thanks to a simple and balanced sail plan (mainsail with two reefs, furling genoa, symmetrical spinnaker); • Good speed for a sailboat of this size, with sound handling on all points of sail. From Le Légué (Port of Saint-Brieuc), you can explore North Brittany. IKIGAI is equipped for "semi-offshore" cruising (navigation of more than 6 miles and less than 60 miles from a safe harbor), allowing you to sail as far north as the Belgian border and as far south as the Gironde estuary. The exit from the port of Le Légué is through a lock open approximately 3.5 hours at each high tide. The rental period begins 4 hours before the lock closes on the first day and ends 2 hours after the last hour of entry into the lock on the last day. (It is possible to pick up or return the boat to the Port of Saint-Quay for an additional fee.) IKIGAI is not suitable for single-handed use. A minimum of 2 crew members is required. Vehicles can be left in a secure, but unsupervised, parking area. For any other inquiries, please use the messaging service at Click&Boat.
