Sirocco is our holiday companion. My family and I spend most of our vacation days—whether weekends, holidays, or longer breaks—on board. It has always protected us from bad weather, the heat, and the many challenges the sea presents. Sirocco is an Ocean Cruiser with a curious history: it was the very first boat built by ILS Shipyard, founded in 2006 with the purpose of exporting this hull design to Europe. Due to a lamination error, Sirocco ended up receiving extra layers of fiberglass. The designer, Spanish naval architect Iñigo Toledo, used to call it “The Eternal”, suggesting that with so much fiberglass it would never wear out. I had the chance to see that for myself when I installed a new sonar on the hull. On board we have a barbecue grill, stove, pots, and all the utensils needed to prepare a wide variety of meals. There’s also a powerful refrigerator with a freezer that will even keep your ice cream just right. In addition, Sirocco has a small “beach deck” made of teak, which makes it easy to access the sea—or enjoy a sunbath, unless there are children around, who will certainly be jumping from the deck into the water nonstop. We also provide life jackets, a dinghy with an outboard engine and oars, as well as the classic floating “noodles” for fun in the water.

Eu tenho uma relação muito próxima com Barcos, desde muito criança passo as minhas férias dentro de barcos. Começei em 1976 ainda criança na Lancha Carbrasmar do meu Padrinho. Mais tarde, já adolecente iniciei na vela pelo laser. A paixão pelo mar nunca me abandonou, tive minhas primeiras experiência com vela oceânica em 2017, na 44 semana de vela, onde tripulei o Veleiro Cambada, um Delta 32 que corria na RGS. Nas semanas de vela de número 45 até 49, corri no Veleiro Cambada 1, um delta 36, que foi campeão em varias provas. Aprendi bastante, porém a migração de uma Lancha para um Veleiro não é simples, trocas desse tipo quase não ocorrem. Consegui isso em 2021, quando comprei o Sirocco. Comandar um barco é bem diferente de tripular um Barco, mas nesses 3 anos, já aprendi bastante, e ainda acho que tenho muito para aprender. A minha primeira semana de vela no comando de um veleiro, foi com o Sirocco, ano passado 2023, pegamos o segundo lugar na nossa classe, porém o primeiro colocado era um barco Regateiro Novo, que não tinha sido medido e por isso estava na Bico de Proa. Ganhamos primeiro Lugar na Bico de Proa B na Regata Mitsubishi e também na Regara Eduardo Souza Ramos. Tenho muita experiência em resolver problemas de barco, entendo um pouco de tudo de mecânica até culinária. Travessias já fiz mais de 10, sempre entre Ilhabela e Angra dos Reis
