Our skipper will show you the most enchanting and undiscovered spots where you can stop to dive into the splendid waters of this magical place. A boat excursion from Castel dell'Ovo to Nisida offers a fascinating journey through the history, legends, and natural beauty of the Neapolitan coast or the Sorrento coast, one of the most popular for spending a wonderful day in the famous crystal-clear waters. Here's what you might see along the Neapolitan coast and the stories associated with these places: 1. Castel dell'Ovo Your journey begins at Castel dell'Ovo, the oldest castle in Naples. It is located on the islet of Megaride, where the Greeks founded the first nucleus of the city of Parthenope. The castle's name comes from the legend that the Latin poet Virgil, considered a magician in the Middle Ages, hid a magical egg in the castle's cellars. It was believed that if the egg were broken, the city of Naples would fall into ruin. 2. Lungomare Caracciolo Sailing along Naples' Lungomare, you'll admire one of the most evocative panoramas in the Mediterranean, overlooking Mount Vesuvius and the Gulf of Naples. This stretch of coastline is beloved by Neapolitans and offers a perfect view of the city, from the Vomero hills to the sea. 3. Posillipo Continuing, you'll pass the Posillipo coast, famous for its historic villas and natural caves. One of the best-known is the Grotta di Seiano, a tunnel dug in Roman times that connects the Bagnoli coast with the Pausilypon Archaeological Park. The word "Posillipo" derives from the Greek "pausilypon," meaning "which puts an end to pain," a testament to the serenity this place has offered since ancient times. 4. Palazzo Donn'Anna Another evocative spot is Palazzo Donn'Anna, a grandiose, unfinished building overlooking the sea. Its history is linked to legends of ghosts and tormented love affairs. It is said that the noblewoman Anna Carafa, who built the palace in the 17th century, was an enigmatic figure and that the palace has been the scene of mysterious disappearances and intrigues. According to legend, the spirit of one of Anna's ladies-in-waiting, who mysteriously disappeared, still haunts the ruins. 5. Gaiola and the Underwater Archaeological Park As you approach Gaiola, you'll see a small island connected to the mainland by a small bridge. It is famous for the Gaiola Underwater Archaeological Park, where the remains of ancient Roman villas are visible beneath the sea. However, the place is also known for the curse of Gaiola: the villa on the island has been inhabited by several famous people, many of whom suffered tragedies or misfortunes, fueling the belief in a curse linked to the place. 6. Capo Posillipo and Marechiaro Continuing, you'll skirt Capo Posillipo and the picturesque village of Marechiaro, famous for its "finestrella" (small window) overlooking Mount Vesuvius and its ancient seafood trattorias. Marechiaro has been featured in many Neapolitan songs and is a place full of romantic charm. 7. Baia di Trentaremi Next, you'll pass the Baia di Trentaremi, a wonderful natural inlet with towering cliffs. The bay is part of the Pausilypon Archaeological Park, and beneath the sea lie the remains of ancient Roman buildings. The name "Trentaremi" may derive from "thirty oars," referring to an old legend about pirate ships hiding in this bay. 8. Nisida Island The excursion ends on Nisida, a volcanic island connected to the mainland by a man-made road. Nisida has a fascinating history: it was inhabited in Roman times, and a castle was built there in the Middle Ages. Today, it houses a juvenile prison, but remains shrouded in legend. Nisida is said to be the island of Calypso, the nymph who, according to Greek mythology, held Ulysses captive for years. Its caves and coastline are also said to have inspired poets and writers. This excursion is a journey that intertwines myth, history, and breathtaking landscapes, allowing you to discover some of the most evocative and mysterious places in the Gulf of Naples. While on the Castellammare coast, Sorrento is a fun-filled day where you can enjoy the sea, snorkeling, and sunbathing at the most beautiful spots like the Bikini Beach, the Turtle Rock, and much more on one of the most popular coastlines of the Amalfi Coast. Included in the rental price: Drinks: Coke, water, and beer. Fuel is not included, which is €50 for a half day and €70 for a full day. The tour will leave you speechless.
