Rent a boat in Positano with Nautal

Positano is a small town located on the Amalfi Coast in southern Italy. The town is situated on a hillside that slopes down to the sea and is known for its picturesque views, colourful buildings and lush vegetation. Positano's location on the coast makes it a popular spot for boat charters due to its azure waters, beautiful islands and mysterious coves that can only be accessed by boat. This includes the famous Grotta Dello Smeraldo a subterranean cavern with beautiful emerald-green water that can only be visited by boat. Visitors can also rent boats to take them to the nearby towns of Amalfi, Ravello and Capri. All in all, thanks to its ideal location with stunning views, nearby islands and sparkling waters, Positano is a great place for your next boat rental.

How much does it cost to rent a boat in Positano?

There are several factors that come into play when calculating the overall price of a boat rental in Positano. For example, the type of boat, the size of the vessel, the duration of the trip and the seasonality are all taken into account. Moreover, there are extras that you can include for an additional price such as a skipper and a crew. Below are the average prices according to boat type.

Motorboats

€1,200 per day

RIBs

€645 per day

What is the best time to visit Positano?

The southern coast of Italy is home to a beautiful Mediterranean climate, with hot and sunny summers and calm, mild winters. Therefore, you can visit Positano with your boat rental any time between spring and autumn and experience wonderful weather. It is worth noting that the highest number of tourists arrive in Positano during the summer, specifically in July and August. Thankfully, you can escape the crowds with your boat and head into the open waters!

Should I charter a boat with or without a skipper?

On Nautal, you will find that there are many boats available that come with the option to include a skipper. While this is not mandatory, it is highly recommended, particularly if you do not have previous experience with navigation. For example, a professional skipper will be able to handle all technical aspects involved with sailing and take care of the boat’s maintenance. This means that you can sit back and enjoy your journey with peace of mind, knowing that someone else will safely and comfortably guide you. Finally, a skipper will be familiar with the local area. Therefore, they can customise your itinerary to your liking, making sure to show you the best places at the best times.

What to do in Positano?

There is so much to see and experience on your boat rental in Positano that deciding what to do can become a daunting task. Luckily, we have compiled a list of our favourite activities in Positano.

Explore the coast

Positano is located on the Amalfi Coast, which is known for its beautiful beaches, crystal clear waters and picturesque towns. Renting a boat is a great way to explore the coast and see it from a different perspective. Therefore, one of our biggest recommendations is to simply navigate around the area at your own leisure. You can visit nearby towns like Amalfi, Ravello and Sorrento, and stop to swim and sunbathe in secluded coves and beaches. The main beach in Positano is the Spiaggia Grande, perfectly located at the base of the town’s brightly coloured houses. However, this beach is only around 300 metres long and is tightly packed with sunbeds. Therefore, we recommend visiting nearby beaches such as Laurito Beach, Arienzo Beach Club and Furore Di Fiordo.

Visit the Li Galli islands

The Li Galli islands, also known as the Sirenuse, are small islands located just off the coast of Positano. The story behind this archipelago is that there were sirens that would lure sailors onto the island. Nowadays, the islands are privately owned, so you can’t go on them, but they are definitely worth admiring from your boat. The largest of the three islands, Gallo Lungo, is the most famous of the archipelago because it represents a dolphin.

Visit the Emerald Grotto

The Emerald Grotto (Grotta dello Smeraldo) is a beautiful cave which can be found on the Amalfi coast near the town of Conca Dei Marini, just a short boat ride from Positano. The cave features stunning emerald green waters, caused by the light passing through the white sands at the bottom of the cave. This activity is popular amongst all tourists because of the vibrant colours of the water and the fact that it is only accessible by boat.

Get to know Positano

When you are ready to dock and disembark from your boat, there is no better option than to wander around the marvellous city of Positano. The winding roads on the mountainside give you a gorgeous view of the sea no matter where you are. Bright purple flowers, giant lemons and pastel houses - everywhere you look is sure to charm you. If you want to get to know some of the town’s history, head to the Church of Santa Maria in the heart of Positano. Additionally, you can walk around the artisanal boutiques and art galleries. From ceramics to perfumes, there are so many souvenirs to choose from! Finally, you can end the day with a magical sunset. Positano is known for its beautiful sunsets, and there is no better place to watch them than from the sea. Renting a boat and watching the sun set over the coast is a unique and unforgettable experience.
