Departure location: Elba Island, Italy Sailing to Sansone Beach Features: The seabed: The beach is made up of small white pebbles and eurite (a rock typical of the area), which reflect the sunlight, giving the water shades ranging from turquoise to cobalt blue. Snorkeling paradise: Further offshore, there is a rock much loved by divers, while the seabed, rich in caves and ravines, combined with the transparency of the water, make it a must-see destination for snorkeling enthusiasts. Continuing to Viticcio What is the sea and coast like? The Viticcio stretch of sea is not made up of a single large beach, but of five small, wild coves interspersed with rocky cliffs. The seabed: The water here is incredibly clear, with shades ranging from turquoise to emerald green. Visibility is such that it is one of the best spots in the area for snorkeling. The Beach: The coves are mostly composed of smooth pebbles and gray sand/gravel. They are not beaches with fine, white sand (like the nearby Sansone or Ghiaie beaches), which makes them very intimate and less crowded. Stop at Scalgieri Scaglieri Beach is a splendid cove located on the northern coast of Elba Island, right next to the famous Biodola beach, separated only by a small cliff accessible on foot. It is an ideal destination for both relaxation and families thanks to its gently sloping seabed. Coastal Characteristics: The beach is composed of fine, golden sand that gives the water particularly striking turquoise and crystalline hues. Available Services: Despite its small size, it is very well equipped. You will find beach clubs, sun lounger and umbrella rentals, bars, restaurants, and small shops behind the beach. Exposure and Sunsets: Facing northwest, the bay is protected from southerly winds and offers one of the most spectacular sunsets on the island, with the sun sinking below the horizon toward Corsica.
