About the experience
The Blue Cave on the island of Koločep is definitely worth visiting and swimming in it. However, after 9 am the cave becomes heavily crowded and loses much of its magic. The noise, boat traffic, and constant movement disturb both the water and the experience, making it far less enjoyable. The Blue Cave's true beauty reveals itself only at the right moments of the day. For those seeking the Blue Cave at its most authentic and breathtaking, timing is everything—early morning or sunset is when it truly comes alive.
Visited early in the morning or at sunset, when the light is soft and the sea is calm, the cave glows with deep sapphire and turquoise tones, creating an almost otherworldly atmosphere. In these quiet hours, swimming inside feels intimate and serene, just as nature intended.
The morning tour heads right to the Blue Cave in a clockwise direction around Koločep, while the afternoon tour runs counterclockwise with the Blue Cave as the last stop.
