Have complained Subject: Formal Complaint and Request for Refund – Charter Boat Hire Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to make a formal complaint regarding the charter boat tour my family and I booked with your company. I paid the full charter fee of in advance, together with the captain’s fee of €225, for what was advertised as a full-day charter. Unfortunately, the experience fell far below acceptable standards and, in my view, the boat should never have been hired out in its condition. The most serious issue was that the boat did not have a working anchor. A functioning anchor is a fundamental piece of safety equipment on a charter vessel. In my opinion, the vessel appeared to be unseaworthy and its condition raised serious concerns about whether it complied with the safety requirements expected of a commercial charter boat. This created significant concerns for the safety of everyone on board. Despite being paid €225, the captain was unhelpful throughout the trip. When we asked him to contact you to report the problems and seek assistance, he told us he was unable to do so. As our concerns were not being addressed, we sent you a message through the booking app very early in the trip explaining the issues we were experiencing. We received no response whatsoever, leaving us without any support during the charter. Given the condition of the vessel and the lack of assistance, we decided to end the trip early. We refused to pay the additional fuel and cleaning charges and disembarked at the fuel pontoon, as we did not believe it was reasonable to incur further costs after the service we had received. Overall, we are extremely disappointed. We paid for a safe, professionally managed full-day charter and did not receive the standard of service or safety that we were entitled to expect. I request a full investigation into this matter, together with an appropriate refund and a written explanation of how this vessel came to be chartered in this condition. If we are unable to resolve this satisfactorily, I will have no alternative but to refer the matter to the relevant consumer protection and maritime authorities for investigation into the vessel’s condition and the safety standards applied to its operation.     This trip was disappointing in a number of ways. First when the owner sent the proposal it omitted a number of large costs which were added after the fact (gas, skipper, cleaning fee). These items may have been fine to charge for but they should have been stated clearly in the formal proposal. Second, when we arrived on the boat the first thing the skipper told us was that the anchor was broken and we couldn’t use the main bedroom. No one wanted to use the bedroom, we obviously want to be outdoors but for over €1,000, don’t tell me I can’t use the bedroom. Because there was no anchor (this should have been disclosed in advance along with a discount) we were limited in the scope of the trip. There was no wine opener on board (the skipper knew about this in advance and should have replaced it or told us to bring our own). The skipper made comments about two of the guests stomachs which was unkind and honestly in very poor taste. It was basically like a bad Airbnb experience but on a boat. I would never use this company again and would not recommend them.

    We booked the Astonada 3 boat from Helmut through the Click&Boat platform for a family trip (4 adults and 4 children) from Marina Dénia to Cala Sardinera - a beautiful destination, and we genuinely enjoyed the time we spent there. Initially we paid €500 for the boat and an additional €57 for the weather rescheduling option, which we unfortunately had to use due to bad weather. However, the rescheduled trip was reduced from 4 hours to 3 hours, with no adjustment to the rental price. My recommendation is to ask for a written breakdown of every additional cost before confirming your booking. Although the listing stated that fuel was not included, no estimated fuel cost was provided before booking. We only received this information a few hours before departure. At the end of the trip, we were charged €190 for fuel, but no explanation was given as to how this amount had been calculated. There was no visible measurement of fuel consumption before or after the trip, no transparent procedure to justify the final charge. Another unexpected charge was the €130 skipper fee. The Click&Boat listing stated that the skipper was included, yet we were asked to pay for the skipper separately before leaving the boat. An additional €70 cleaning fee was also charged. Some of the advertised amenities did not match what was actually provided. The listing mentioned snorkeling equipment, but there was only one snorkel mask available for a group of eight people. There was no drinking water, towels, snacks, or ice on board. When we asked for ice for a bottle of champagne we had brought with us, the only option offered was to purchase a bag of ice for an additional charge. The €70 cleaning fee was also difficult to understand, as some areas of the boat were still wet and not properly cleaned. Communication could also be improved. Although the booking was made through Click&Boat, we were informed that further details would be shared via WhatsApp after payment. In reality, we only received the necessary information on the evening before departure, and only after repeatedly contacting the company ourselves through the platform and by phone. In the end, we paid approximately €900 for a 3-hour boat trip at 30 km from the Marina. For me, this wasn't about whether the experience was expensive—it was about transparency.
