About the experience

Set sail for a full-day private cruise along the beautiful coastline of Crete aboard Avra, a classic and comfortable sailing yacht designed for relaxed, all-day exploration. This 7-hour journey begins at 10:00 AM from the Old Venetian Harbour of Chania and takes you to three of the most scenic and peaceful spots in the region.

Your first stop is the tranquil Maherida Beach, a hidden cove with wind-protected waters and untouched surroundings — perfect for a morning swim or snorkeling in crystal-clear waters.

Next, we head toward Thodorou Island, a protected nature reserve known for its unique wildlife, including the rare Kri-Kri goats native to Crete. Here, you'll enjoy a refreshing swim in calm waters while your skipper prepares a light snack served with wine or beer, accompanied by soft drinks and fresh seasonal fruits.

Finally, we drop anchor near Lazaretta Island, a serene and picturesque islet just off the coast of Chania. You’re free to swim ashore, stretch out on the sand, or enjoy the peaceful views from the comfort of the yacht.

We spent a wonderful day with Nikos. The location of the boat in the Old Harbor was perfect and easy to get to from the cruise port. We had time for a morning coffee/pastry and then a gyro/pastry afterwards, with enough time to visit a few swim stops, sail and enjoy delicious snacks, wine and soft drinks onboard and have a great conversation about Crete. Nikos is very responsive and the trip was well tailored for our children (6 and 10). We even spotted an ancient amphora in the harbor while snorkeling!
