Lanzarote is located 1000 kilometres from the Iberian Peninsula and 140 kilometres from the African coast. Its climate is defined as subtropical in terms of temperature and dry or sub-desert in terms of rainfall. Temperatures do not usually fall below 14°C in winter and do not usually exceed 29°C in summer.

Which are the most popular ports in Lanzarote?

On the North Coast of the municipality of Arrecife, there are two ports. The fishing port called Puerto de Naos, and the main port (commercial, cargo and cruise ships), called Puerto de Los Mármoles, the third most important in the Canary Islands.

The Port of Arrecife has three kilometres of mooring lines, 120 hectares of floating surface and 450,000 m² of land area. This eminently fishing port with the outstanding growth of its tourist industry has turned it into the third port of the Canary Islands in goods and the first in fresh fish. This is why it occupies an important position in the Eastern Atlantic.

Other ports where you can rent boats in Lanzarote are: Puerto del Carmen, Puerto Deportivo Marina Rubicón, Puerto Calero and Puerto de Playa Blanca.

How to get to Lanzarote?

Most tourists arrive in Lanzarote via the only airport located between the capital, Arrecife (ACE), and the resort of Puerto del Carmen to the south. The bus takes you to the centre of the capital in 10 minutes, Monday to Friday.

Coming by boat is recommended if you are travelling between the different islands. Puerto del Carmen, located in the centre-south of the island, 10 minutes from the international airport, is the main arrival point for boats. Within the island, you can use the bus service, called Guaguas, and taxis.
