Ibiza, part of the Balearic Islands, is a very popular holiday destination for those who appreciate beauty by both day and night. Ibiza is colorful and its inhabitants have their own style, which adds a certain magic to this island. It is undoubtedly known for its lively nightlife and stunning sunrises, but that's not all this unique and exciting island has to offer. During the day you can expect to experience the charm of Ibiza’s stunning coves and unbeatable beaches. Since Ibiza has more than fifty coves, you don’t want to miss out on exploring them when your Ibiza boat rental!

Where to sail and do in Ibiza?

It is well known that Ibiza attracts a lot of people for its nightlife with lots of fun guaranteed in the summertime. Some of the most famous parties are Flower Power at Pacha and La Espuma at Amnesia.

Some say that Ibiza has the best sunsets on its west-facing side, with several restaurants and clubs offering views. The best days are when there is a lot of wind or after a rainy day. We recommend you enjoy this time of the day when the sun merges with the sea leaving a blanket of colors when you dock at Cala Comte.

Another characteristic of the island is the diversity of its gastronomy and nightlife, frequented by national and international celebrities. We definitely recommend you sample the sausages and stews of the island, including Sobrasada, which is somewhat more rustic than Mallorcan but equally delicious.

The architecture of Ibiza is an absolute wonder as you can always see and easily distinguish the features of different cultures such as; the Punics, Carthaginians, Romans, Arabs, and Catalans. Ibiza has a hippie spirit that is still palpable in its markets, parties, and lifestyle which makes it completely unique from its sister islands.

Other nearby sailing areas:

  • Salada Cove is well known for its green surroundings and minimal urbanization. It is without a doubt one of the most visited coves in Ibiza because of its golden sand and crystal clear water that you certainly don’t want to miss.
  • Conta Cove is very popular among swimmers, but it is not as quiet as Cala Salada. Its unquestionable beauty attracts many sun dwellers, and sunset seekers and you’re going to love it too. Conta Cove is stunning to look at on land and is also a sight to behold aboard your charter boat. The phrase “postcard perfect” springs to mind!
  • Vadella Cove is a natural area of turquoise waters surrounded by rock walls. The area is easy to access and there is a lot to explore in this unique little cove. Many sun-worshipers come here to relax throughout the summer months.
  • San Vicente: this cove has calm blue waters and is one of the best-equipped sailing areas with services. With some of the best hotels and restaurants right on the beach, you have everything you need within easy reach. It is a very comfortable and pleasant place to spend the day.
  • Gracioneta Cove: here the waters are calm and transparent. Moreover, the cove is surrounded by rocks and pine trees, making it one of the island's favorite spots. It is one of the smallest coves, barely 100 feet long, and its small size makes it one of the least crowded.
  • Go to one of the many beach restaurants for a memorable dining experience.

How much does it cost to rent a boat in Ibiza?

The cost of a boat rental in Ibiza will vary depending on several factors such as the type of boat, the season, the age of the boat, the duration of the rental, as well as if the captain and/or crew are requested. So when looking for a boat rental be sure to keep these in mind!

Here are some examples of boat rental costs:

  • Catamaran: $812/day
  • Sailboat in Ibiza: $452/day
  • Motorboat: $1,481/day

The harbors in Ibiza

Ibiza has many harbors and marinas all around its coastline. Some of the most popular ones are the following:

  • Puerto Marina Ibiza Magna, located in the historical center and one of the main ports in terms of connections with the rest of the Mediterranean
  • Port of Santa Eulalia, only 14 kilometers from downtown and very popular among travelers
  • Port of San Antonio, the closest to the peninsula, also has around 650 moorings
  • Puerto Deportivo Marina Botafoch, one of the most exclusive marinas on the island, is perfect, especially if you are thinking of renting a yacht in Ibiza.

Renting a boat without a license

When you go on a sailing vacation in Ibiza, it is possible to do so with a license but you will need to go through a brief introduction with the owner and listen carefully to their advice to get the best out of your sailing experience. If you do not have a sailing license, you can hire a skipper, or rent a boat that does not require a license: you can sail your own dinghy with a maximum of 15 hp, or a sailing boat without an engine. By renting a boat without a license you can't go too far away from the harbor or the coast, but you can sail close to the coast with peace of mind.

When is the best time to go?

The sailing season in Ibiza begins in April and ends in October. In spring and autumn temperatures range between 60 and 75°F. The summer begins in April and lasts until late October. In midsummer, the average temperatures range between 75°F and 85°F during the day. The winters are short, mild, and rainy, with average temperatures of 50°F. The beautiful weather and moderate winds make Ibiza a perfect sailing destination.
