Climate and Sailing Conditions in Split

Sail with your friend and family during the summer holidays for fantastic weather, or off-peak during spring and autumn, as the sailing season starts as early as April and doesn’t finish until October. 

The temperatures differ between 25°C to 30°C from June to September and heat the sea up to a lovely temperature of 22°C+. 

The wind is generally calmest during the summer season, and roughest during the winter. In the summer afternoons, the wind can be known to pick up, so please stay atent to weather forecast and sailing conditions when sailing. 

Itinerary Ideas for Split

There are lots of different things you can do in the area surrounding Split, with many islands and numerous coastal cities and towns bringing different touristic elements to the table. 

From June to September, Trogir hosts a popular traditional music festival, held in churches, the fortress and in town squares throughout the summer season. The town has a market where you can buy precious stones and all sorts of wonderful things. 

Split is an illustriously royal city with the ruins of an ancient palace left among the central streets. Along the coast and harbour you can find lots of watersport and cave tour excursions. 

Sail to the islands and dock in what seems the beautifully peaceful town of Hvar, though by night, the vibrant party central of Split. Cocktails and champagne galore here, how can you not celebrate when you find yourself in such a heavenly paradise?!

Travel Tips for Split

Split has an airport (SPU) situated in between Trogir and Split. Despite being labeled “Split” airport, the airport itself is actually closer to Trogir (just 5 km away).  It is approximately 25 km away from Split. 

The most economic form of transport to your destination is by bus. The services from the airport to Trogir cost (12 HRK) and to Split (20 HRK).
