DISCOVER MENORCA AND THE BALEARIC ISLANDS ON BOARD OF A LUXURY GULET. THE EXPERIENCE ON BOARD. Live a unique experience aboard this fantastic gulet based in Menorca, relax and let the crew take care of everything, enjoy an exclusive and personalized service. It is a vacation by the sea, with all the comforts that a hotel can offer, with the advantage of waking up every day on a new beach, and discovering those idyllic and secret places on this wonderful island, Menorca. We recommend a cruise of at least 5 days, to be able to go around the entire island (7 days is ideal). Menorca has very diverse landscapes, from the cliffs and the wild beaches of reddish sand in the north, to the almost Caribbean white sand beaches on the south coast, a paradise just for you. THE GULET YACHT. The gulet has 4 double rooms each with its own bathroom and shower. In addition to a room for the crew, also with its own bathroom, so we ensure the privacy for all our guests. On deck the comfort is total. At the stern we have a large table al fresco where all our meals will be served, plus two large sundbeds. In the central part, we have a solarium area with 8 individual mattresses and in the bow part, there is another sofa. THE FOOD. We have a fully equipped kitchen (galley), where our cook will prepare each meal on board. We pay special attention when choosing the product that is served on board, everything is fresh, of high quality and local product, offering traditional Menorcan and Mediterranean cuisine, and above all healthy. Before each charter, a link with the list of preferences will be sent so that each client can tell us what type of meals they prefer. CREW The M/S Black Marlin Gulet is crewed by Marlin and María, a married couple with salt water in their veins who have more than 30 years of experience. Marlin, born in New Zealand, brings all the experience of years working as a captain on luxury super yachts having crossed the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean, his main concern is ensuring the safety of everyone on board. In addition to being a great host who is proud of his ship and his work, he loves to tell about his adventures in the sailing the "seven seas", entertaining the evenings. María, the crew member on board, is from Menorca, she started sailing at the age of 7, and brings all the local knowledge, plus all the passion for Menorca, the traditions, the food and especially its coast. María will ensure that all guests are attended at all times. Now proud to be co-owner of this magnificent schooner, Maria studied electrical engineering and entered the superyacht industry, where she worked for years as chief engineer of super yachts. Today we have a third crew member, a sailor and deckhand whose help is essential to serve all our guests, as well as all deck and maneuver work. The sailing Gulet of Menorca is lovingly run by Marlin and Maria. An awesome husband and wife team with salt water in their veins, half a dozen various ocean crossings, and more than 30yrs of professional maritime experience between them, they offer prospective guests an enormous wealth of knowledge and safe, professional sailing. Originally from New Zealand, Marlin’s love affair with the ocean started as a baby, learning to swim before he could walk. And with his family lineage steeped in boat building, commercial fishing and marine engineering its no surprise he has spent the vast majority of his life either on, in or around the deep blue in one form or another. Relative experience includes commercial diving & drill rig operator in Australia, passenger and cargo ferry Captain in Vanuatu, dive shop and dive boat Captain/builder/owner in Thailand, over a decade of skippering super yachts around the Med, as well as build engineer of a 45m Benetti in Italy continuing as Chief Engineer of the same yacht after shipping to Hong Kong. The list of Marlins achievements and experience’s goes on and on and being the character that he is he will be more that happy to tell you all about them…. be warned however you may need a spare week or so!!!! His lovely wife Maria proudly hails from the jewel of the Belearic islands….. Menorca, and is an equally (if not even more so) accomplished marine engineer! Sailing since age 7, and competitively since her early teens, and later gained her electrical engineering degree from Barcelona university enabling her to dive head first into the increasingly competitive world of super yacht engineering. In this hugely male dominated industry Maria has worked her way from the bottom to the very top, impressively holding “Chief Engineer” positions on prestigious high tech superyachts such as SY Heureka (45m Holland Yachtbaw ) and most recently the awesome MY Khalila (49m Palma Johnson). Although Black Marlin doesn’t have quite the panache of her previous yachts, the passion, experience, work ethic, pride and professionalism Maria brings to the equation is a huge asset to both her husband and all who step aboard MS Black Marlin, whilst at the same time humbly providing an awesome roll model for young women who may have a penchent for professional marine engineering.
