What to do in the Bahamas?

The Bahamas are full of intriguing islands, beaches and beautiful coves for your day trips. With more than 365 cays, you can even plan a trip from Nassau to Exuma in a boat. You can start with a Nassau boat rental and move through the different areas and maybe even stop at Grand Bahamas Island. The crystal clear waters will make your boat trip to Bahamas one to never forget.

Boat rentals in Nassau Bahamas are also popular with the balance of nature and society. Then fall in love with the pig beach and pink sandy beaches on the other islands. A luxury yacht charter will make you feel like you are dancing with the stars. Keep an eye out for Mariah Carey, she has a house on these islands!

Great Exuma is a touristic location; perfectly comprehensible with its beautiful beaches, iguanas, swimming pigs and more!

Treasure Cay, in the Abaco Islands, is probably one of the most dazzling places in the world. The water is an exceptional turquoise and the sand is almost snow white, glistening in the sun. As if this place couldn’t get any better, there are almost never any crowds in the area, either.

Our closest harbour to Treasure Cay is Harbour View Marina Marsh Harbour. The Mermaid Reef diving spot here is very reputable and the beaches here are generally smaller.

The Eastern Shore is situated at the very tip of the island of Grand Abaco. Here, you will see the most stunning houses, which you can also rent and stay for a night if you fancy some time on firm ground. Most of these houses also have their own access to the sea through a private pontoon.

Bahama day trips are one of a kind, whether you are planning full day itineraries. Don’t forget to bring drinking water! Some boat rentals have water filtration systems so you have fresh water at all times, but if you are renting a motorboat then make sure to stay hydrated!

Where are the best places to visit around the Bahamas with your boat rental?

Nassau

Of course, if you’re renting a boat in the Bahamas, you have to go to Nassau, the capital of this idyllic island group.  Nassau is famous for having the perfect blend of sensational s]cenery and modern infrastructure, with a plethora of fantastic marinas on offer to boaters.  There are also plenty of places to go snorkelling and reef diving nearby.

Bimini

This is one of the closest destinations in the Caribbean to the US and offers up an amazing combination of resplendent reefs and picturesque white sand beaches.  If you head to Alice Town on North Bimini, you can also go shopping and try some of the local delicacies in one of the many restaurants.

Exuma

Exuma is a particularly sought-after destination, not just for the variety of water sports opportunities there, but also for the famous swimming pigs.  There are a plethora of smaller cays off the coast of Exuma, namely Highborn Cay, which is home to the world-famous Octopus Garden reef.  You will be awestruck at the wealth of marine life here, and even on the beach, you might spot one of the island’s famous giant iguanas.

How is the weather in the Bahamas?

The Bahamas typically have two seasons. A dry season and a wet season. Note: The Bahamas also have a hurricane season (during the wet season from July to September). However, if you check beforehand for the weather, it can be an ideal location 365 days a year!

The dry season lasts from December to April and temperatures are generally very pleasant, ranging between 20ºC - 25ºC

The Alizé (French for trade winds) are fairly gentle throughout the year and do not pick up until July to September, when the area is more susceptible to hurricanes.

Which are the most popular ports in the Bahamas?

Located just to the East of Grand Bahama, Abacos comprises a series of Cays dotted with private homes and is best viewed by private yacht. This impressive chain of islands is just waiting to be explored and you will have the opportunity to discover why Abacos is known as the Sailing Capital of the World. The beaches here boast pristine golden sand and there will be plenty of opportunities to find a secluded spot and head to the shore to soak up the sun for a few hours.

Alternatively, dropping anchor to swim in the bay of Exuma is an experience that should not be missed. This area is also home to the captivating Exumas National Land and Sea Park, which boasts a large collection of hundreds of uninhabited cays surrounded by dramatically blue waters. Most of our boat rentals in the Bahamas are based in Nassau, New Providence. There are also boat rentals based in Albany Marina and Palm Cay Marina.

Bahamas Yacht charters in Nassau are also a popular choice for cruising the Bahamas in luxury and comfort at faster speeds!

Other boat rentals are based on the islands, Great Abaco, Andros Island, Great Exuma and North Bimini! We know, we know, we’re spoiling you for choice….

As the sea is so transparent on these beautiful islands, seeing where you are anchoring is effortless (and weighing anchor is also easier) and means you can watch out for coral reefs. Help to protect this delightfully peculiar species by being respectful and choosing where you anchor wisely.

How to Get to the Bahamas?

You can fly directly to the Bahamas, or if your local airport doesn’t fly directly, flights to Miami Airport fly in from all over the world.

There are a total of 22 airports in the Bahamas. The two biggest and international ones are Marsh Harbour and Nassau. There are direct flights to these airports, too.

Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS) is an international airport in Nassau with connections to Miami, as well as other popular locations.

Leonard M. Thompson International Airport (MHH) is the international airport located in Marsh Harbour.
