About the experience

BEFORE GOING FURTHER: I am not a professional charter company; I rent out the family boat, which implies a minimum level of trust. This is all the easier to establish when a request doesn't come from an anonymous profile with an unknown project. Therefore, I do not respond to requests made under these circumstances. In particular, it is pointless to send me the standard (and absurd) request for a "quote," as the rental conditions are those indicated on this website. However, I will, of course, gladly answer all other requests or questions.

The OTAGO is named in homage to the writer and sailor Joseph Conrad, whose first command at sea was a three-masted barque bearing that name.

Ours is more modest and allows for less adventurous voyages. It will easily take you out for day trips (theoretical maximum of 8 passengers, comfortable for 6, ideal for 4), or even for a short cruise of a few days (ideal for two people, possibly accompanied by one or two children). Depending on my availability, I can go out with you if you would like to have a companion (but only if you have your own boating license: see note below).

Launched in 2013 and meticulously maintained ever since, it is in excellent condition and offers, within its 7 meters, a double berth cabin with toilet, a convertible saloon with refrigerator, small sink and stove, a cockpit with shower, table and awning to protect you from the sun or any inclement weather. For navigation, you will have a GARMIN GPS/chartplotter/fishfinder and a VHF DSC for your safety.

Ideally moored on an easily accessible pontoon in the Port des Minimes, it opens the doors to the exceptional sailing area of the Pertuis Breton straits, with the islands of Ré, Aix, and Oléron easily accessible for a leisurely day trip.

Note: I am receiving an increasing number of requests to accompany people who do not have a boating license. To avoid unnecessary exchanges, I would like to reiterate that only a qualified professional skipper can legally take passengers on board for a fee without a license. As I do not hold a license, I can only accompany a charterer who, having obtained one, will be the skipper.
