Take time to get to know the boat and organize your belongings so that they are accessible.

Despite your sailing history, having someone who knows the area can make your experience more enjoyable. With a skipper on board you will be more relaxed and he/she can watch the boat while you are doing off-boat activities.

A skipper´s only responsibility is steering the boat. If you are going on a trip for several days, it is important that the skipper is given adequate rest.

If you do have a skipper, recognize that he/she knows the area very well and can recommend places where you will enjoy yourself the most.

If weather conditions are not suitable for sailing, it is recommended to start when the weather is better and not risk a bad experience. The skipper maintains the right to not sail because he is responsible for the safety of the boat and the passengers.

Bring comfortable and transpirable clothes. Even if it is hot during the day, it can get cold out on the water at night, so make sure to bring a jacket.

Wear comfortable, flat shoes with light soles or rubber shoes. Dark-soled sneakers will mark the deck and dress shoes are forbidden on deck. Do not walk around barefoot because the constant movement of the boat makes you more susceptible to injury.

Pack your belongings in a flexible bag rather than a suitcase. This will allow for better accessibility around the cabin.

Never throw anything into the water. Water pollution is dangerous and all efforts to decrease it should be taken.

Keep in mind extra expenses you may incur while on your rental. Especially for fast motorboats or yachts, the cost of fuel should be heavily considered. Moorings in ports other than the boats origin and destination will be charged separately as well.

If you bring kids on board remember that you are responsible for their safety. Let them help with sailing tasks according to their age and make sure they have a proper fitting life vest when needed. Babies should also be protected from the sun and cold at all times.

Above all, enjoy your time and be safe. Relax, learn new skills, and discover new places. It is your vacation and you earned it.

Generally extras and damage/security deposit is paid at the time of check-in.

This deposit will cover any small damages to the boat that may occur during your charter and is not covered by the all-risk boat insurance.

Of course, as soon as the reservation is confirmed we can give you the contact details of the boat owner so that you can finalise all aspects of your booking and resolve any queries you may have.

This is usually stated in the rental contract but generally only the rental of the boat is included. Expenditure incurred during the trip such as fuel, mooring at ports other than the base port, meals, etc are not included in the price. Additionally, in most cases the final cleaning is paid separately in cash at the end of your trip.

The booking is finalised after you pay for the reservation and the boat owner has sent an email confirmation providing their contact details.

We place great emphasis on boat owners to update their calendars, but we can not guarentee that they are 100% accurate and up to date. This is why we usually ask you to send us your budget for your booking after you make your first request so we can suggest other boats that fit your plans should your first choice be unavailable.

You can ask the owner for it once you have confirmed the booking.

To make a request we will ask for your name, phone number and email address so we can send you an offer. Once the booking is confirmed, we will ask for further details in order to make the contract with the owner for the boat.

The contract will be between the boat owner or charter company and yourselves and they will provide it to you. Generally it is signed at the time of check-in, but you can ask what to anticipate as soon as the reservation is confirmed.

At the moment, Nautal does not provide this service.

If after your booking is confirmed and we have sent over the boat owners´information you have any problems with the rent or the contract, please let us know within 24 hours so we can reslove the issues. If you realise after the first 24 hours then please stick to the early cancellation clauses that are outlined on the owners contract.

Incidents

If there is a serious problem causing the boat to become invalidated for rent then we will let you know as soon as possible. We will then always try to offer another boat as a replacement. Should you not accept the replacment the owner will refund any money paid.

Contact the owner as soon as possible and he will evaluate the situation and will let you know if you can continue with your trip.

When the booking is firmly made it can only be cancelled on account of extreme conditions such as bad weather, unavailability of the ship, etc.
